CDRW Drive Update

Greetings:

I have an APS Tech (LaCie) optical CDRW external SCSI drive and I was wondering if I could change out the CDROM drive with a DVD-ROM drive for use on a Beige G3 running Mac OS X 10.2.8? I've had this drive for at least 5 years and the former co-worker probably had the drive for another 3-5 years.

Greetings:

I installed a new CD/DVD in the G3 and it reads just fine but iTunes will not write with the drive. The DVD is a Samsung Super-WriteMaster™
DVD writer, DVD+R 22X, DVD-R 22X, Writing DVD+R dual layer 12X, DVD-R dual layer 12X.

Anyway I didn't read the fine print well enough and it says that except for Toast, the drive is not supported. Any ideas about how to get it to work with iTunes?
